Preamble

Whereas the Treasury Business Registry is bloated,

Whereas most of these businesses are inactive and exist in name only,

Whereas the owners of these businesses sometimes do not respond to inquiries about their business,

Be it enacted by the Senate of SimDemocracy:

Article 1: Business Activity Checks

§1. The Division of Business, within the Department of Treasury of SimDemocracy, shall have the authority to conduct Business Activity Checks on specific businesses.

§1.1. A Business Activity Check shall be composed of 2 steps:
§1.1.1. The first of which shall be a search of publicly available information in the Discord server. The goal of this search shall be to determine whether the business has performed any meaningful activity that is publicly visible within the last 2 months. “Meaningful activity” shall be defined and determined at the discretion of the Division of Business. If meaningful activity is determined, the Activity Check shall stop and the business shall remain untouched. If none is determined, the Activity Check shall move on to its second step.
§1.1.2. The second of which is a private message by a Division of Business employee to the owner of this business. In case there are multiple owners, the message shall be to the owner which holds the largest share. This message shall inquire whether they intend to keep the business open or will allow it to be dissolved. If they intend to keep it, the Activity Check shall stop and the business shall remain untouched. If they agree to the dissolution or fail to reply within 72 hours, the business shall be labelled Abandoned.
§1.2. Businesses owned or primarily controlled by individuals who are permanently banned from SimDemocracy shall automatically be labelled Abandoned without requiring a Business Activity Check.

Article 2: Business Expropriation

§1. The Division of Business, within the Department of Treasury of SimDemocracy, shall have the ability to expropriate businesses labelled as Abandoned.

§1.1. If a business is expropriated, any assets they own are seized by the State of SimDemocracy. The business shall be dissolved, the tau accounts owned by the business shall be closed, the tau on those accounts seized, and any business-owned channels shall be closed.

Article 3: Enactment

§1. This Act shall take effect immediately upon signage by the President.
