Adequate Time For Defense Amendment

Preamble

Whereas

Judges should not be able to waive the adjournment for Public Defenders;

THE SENATE OF SIMDEMOCRACY PROCLAIMS:

Article 1: Amendment

§1. Article 23, section 4 of the Courtroom Procedures Act shall be amended to remove the last 3 words of the sentence.

Article 2: Commencement

§1. Any trial presently in the pre-trial stage at the time at which this Act is passed shall be immediately adjourned for 24 hours, if the Judge has waived the Defense’s adjournment pursuant to Article 23, section 4 of the Courtroom Procedures Act, unless the Defense waives such adjournment period.

§2. This Act takes effect immediately upon passage.
