Auction Act 2026

Preamble

Whereas Tau is inherently worthless under our current model;
Whereas Tau is inflated extremely high;
Whereas We all need more friendly competition in our lives for prizes.

Article 1: Creation of the State Auctioneer

§1. The State Auctioneer is hired and paid for by the Secretary of Treasury.

§1.1. The pay of the State Auctioneer is set by the Secretary of Treasury.

§2. The State Auctioneer shall have their own role on both the SimDemocracy Discord server as well as the Department of Treasury Discord server. Further, they shall be granted the ability to post on Reddit by the Reddit supervisor.

§2.1. On the SimDemocracy Discord server, the State Auctioneer shall be given the ability to add and delete Emojis.
§2.2. The State Auctioneer role shall have the ability to manage #state-auctions (new channel implemented in this act) and shall have the ability to send messages in a government announcement channel in order to promote State Auctions.

§3. Their main purpose is to run state-run auctions. This purpose must be upheld at all points in time.

§3.1. Any additional jobs may be delegated to the State Auctioneer’s workload and removed, minus running state-run auctions, as the Secretary of Treasury sees fit.

§4. The State Auctioneer may run the auctions however they see fit as long as they adhere to all legislation passed by the Senate, the Constitution, and the Terms of Service of the respective platform §5. All proceeds from auctions hosted by the State Auctioneer shall be sent to the Government Reserve Taubot Account. §6. The Secretary of Treasury may fire the State Auctioneer whenever they see fit. The Senate may also impeach this individual if such action is required. §7. If the State Auctioneer is rendered legally incapacitated, the Deputy Secretary of Treasury automatically assumes the role of Interim State Auctioneer as well as retains the role of Deputy Secretary of Treasury until one of the following is met:

§7.1. The Secretary of Treasury appoints a new Interim State Auctioneer; or
§7.2. The Secretary of Treasury fires and appoints a new State Auctioneer; or
§7.3. The State Auctioneer loses the incapacitated status.

Article 2: Creation of Monthly Emoji Auctions

§1. Once monthly, the aforementioned State Auctioneer is required to hold an Emoji Auction.

§1.1. This auction shall be held on the first Monday of each month. The Auction shall last 5 days.

§2. During this auction, all citizens must be able to participate unless a valid reason to why they should not is given, such as continued bidding without enough Tau, violation of auction rules, etc,. Citizens can auction to either remove an Emoji or replace an Emoji.

§2.1. All citizens must be able to pay the full amount of Tau that they bid. Failure to have funds forfeits their ability to make a selection. The selection then goes onto the next highest bidder.

§3. On the passing of this bill, there will be 4 slots for Emojis to be auctioned for.

§3.1. The Department of Treasury is in charge of running the Emoji slots.
§3.2. The Department of Treasury may create new slots as they see fit
§3.2.1. There shall be no less than 4 slots.

§4. There shall be the same number of winners as there are slots.

§4.1. Ex. If the Department of Treasury creates 5 slots, there shall be 5 winners, each with their own slot.

§5. Winners of slots shall only make their selection one time on how they would like to redeem their slot.

§5.1. This selection shall be done by the Sunday following the first Monday of any given month.

§ 6. The first-place winner shall get the first pick on how they would like to use their slot. This shall continue by placement until all winners have made a selection.

§6.1. All winners must pay the Tau they bidded to the Government Reserve Taubot Account prior to making a decision. Photo proof must be given to the State Auctioneer

§7. If there are not enough bidders to complete a full auction under this Article, all people who bid, in order of how much Tau they bid, shall make a selection. All remaining slots shall remain untouched.

§7.1. If no one bids at all by the Friday following the first Monday of the month, all slots shall remain untouched.

Article 3: Implementation

§1. On the passing and signing of this bill, the Secretary of Treasury shall have 72 hours to appoint a State Auctioneer. §2. On the passing and signing of this bill, the Discord Supervisor shall have 72 hours to create the State Auctioneer role on both the SimDemocracy Discord Server and Department of Treasury Discord Server.

§2.1. The Discord Supervisor shall also be given 7 days, from the time of passing and signing of this bill, to create a forum channel under the Economy category titled “State-Auctions”

§3. Following the appointment by the Secretary of Treasury of a State Auctioneer, the Reddit supervisor shall have 72 hours to give the ability to post on r/SimDemocracy, if they do not already have the ability to do so. §4. Article 2 shall be put into effect on the 6th of April, 2026.
