Backup Server Act 2025
Passed by the Senate on 20 July 2025 and signed by the President on 21 July 2025.
Whereas although we have archives, it would be nice to have a backup server in case of emergency
Article 1 - Creation of Backup Server
§1 The Archives Commission shall create a Discord server that is as close to an exact replica of SimDemocracy as possible
- §1.1 Ownership of this “backup server” shall solely be vested upon the Chief Archivist
§2 The backup server shall include a copy of every SimDem bot, channel, and category.
- §2.1 The SimDemocracy server template shall be regularly updated in order to facilitate the copying of channels and categories
§3 With the exception of the Archives Commission, only those with Clearance Level 4 shall be granted permission to join the backup server unless a relocation order is given.
- §3.1 Invites to the backup server are to remain closed once the appropriate persons have joined the backup server.
Article 2 - Relocation to Backup Server
§1 In case of emergency, the President may order the immediate transfer of the Government of SimDemocracy to the backup server.
- §1.1 This order may be classified depending on the emergency in order to protect the safety and continuity of SimDemocracy.
- §1.1.1 If a classified order is given, the President must inform the Senate of SimDemocracy as well as the Supreme Court within forty-eight (48) hours of the order being issued in order to ensure an orderly transition.
§2 Once a transfer to the backup server has begun, the Archives Commission shall create a new backup server using the guidelines specified in Article 1.
§3 The process of relocating citizens of SimDemocracy who are not in the Senate and/or Supreme Court shall be left to the President’s discretion.
