Judicial Public Domain Act of 2025

Preamble

Whereas; currently all judicial decisions are protected by individual copyright.

Whereas; all real jurisdictions mandate that such documents immediately enter the public domain.

Article 1: Terms of Employment

§1. As a condition of employment in the Judiciary, all Judges, Justices, and any future position created to serve similar purposes of deciding cases and or interpreting law, must agree to release any and all past, present, and future writings into the public domain (under CC0 license) which meet the following criteria:

§1.1. Court decisions and or verdicts for cases including but not limited to original jurisdiction decisions, appeals of decisions, judicial reviews, reference cases, injunctions, writs, majority opinions, concurring opinions, dissenting opinions, as well as any writing created for a similar purpose.

§2. No person may be employed as a Judge, Justice, or similar future position, if they do not agree to release all past, present, and future writings which meet the criteria in §1.1, into the public domain under CC0 license.

Article 2: Current Employees

§1. All current Judges and Justices will be given one (1) week from the passage of this bill to confirm their agreement with the provisions of Article 1, otherwise their employment shall be terminated subject to all applicable employment laws.

Article 3: Verification Documentation

§1. The Court Registrar, Secretary of the Supreme Court, and any future administrative position which performs a similar duty shall be required to collectively maintain a document which contains evidence of confirmation of agreement with the provisions of Article 1, from all past, present, and future Judges, Justices, and similar positions.
