Article 1 - Establishment of the SimDemocracy News Agency (SDNA)

§1. The SimDemocracy News Agency (SDNA) is hereby established as an independent agency of SimDemocracy. It consists of the Editor-in-Chief and personnel hired by them to publish biweekly news articles.

§1.1. These news articles must be published on a Sunday.

Article 2 - Leadership and Governance

Section 1 - Appointment of the Head

§1. The head of the SDNA, known as the Editor-in-Chief, shall be nominated by the President <ref name="sdna" />if the office is vacant and elected through a majority vote of the Senate.

Section 2 - Staff and Resources

§1. The SDNA shall have the authority to hire staff, as needed, to prepare monthly news articles.<ref name="oldnews">No News like Old News Amendment 2026 passed by the Senate on 2 March 2026 and signed by the President on 4 March 2026.</ref>

§2. The agency’s budget shall be determined by the Editor-in-Chief and protected from reductions intended to undermine its independence. The budget may not be reduced in such a manner that the Editor-in-Chief becomes incapable of fulfilling the SDNA’s tasks.

§3. The SDNA may create the necessary channels and roles to ensure its operation.

Section 3 - Investigations

§1. The SDNA may ask any government official for non-classified information relevant to its news articles.

Article 3 - Funding

§1. The SDNA’s budget shall be allocated as requested by the Editor-in-Chief to ensure operational independence.

§2. The Senate may not reduce the SDNA’s funding without a supermajority vote.

Article 4 - Safeguard

§1. The Senate may impeach the Editor-in-Chief through a supermajority (two-thirds) vote.
