Whereas

SimDemocracy does not have a right to cruel and unusual punishment,

Noticing

this would allow the Senate to set the mandatory minimum for, say, Stolen Valour, as a permanent ban,

Believing

our Constitution should have a nod towards proportionality,

I, Justice Ivy Cactus Shon Phon NC, propose the following amendment to the Constitution of SimDemocracy:

Article 1: Amendment

§1. The following text shall be added as a new section to the end of “Liberty and Security of the Person”:

    “No person may be subject to cruel or unusual punishment, nor shall they be subject to punishment grossly unproportional to their conduct.”
