A Very Jolly Break Act 2025

Preamble

Whereas; many people are SimAddicted.

Whereas; Christmas and New Year’s are holidays celebrated by a great majority of SimDem’s citizens.

Whereas; imposing deadlines on such popular holidays is counterproductive in fixing this problem, and this should be defended.

Whereas; despite these considerations, SimDem ought to keep running during the holidays.

Therefore; the A Very Jolly Break Act 2025 is drafted and proposed to this Senate.

Be it enacted by the 157th Senate of SimDemocracy:

Article 1: Dates

§1. For the purposes of this Act, the “holidays” shall be considered to encompass the time periods between the 24th December 2025, 00:00 UTC and the 26th December 2025, 00:00 UTC (including the former and not the latter); and between the 31st December 2025, 00:00 UTC and the 2nd January 2026, 00:00 UTC (including the former and not the latter).

Article 2: Legal Exemptions and PTO

§1. During the holidays, all citizens shall have the right to be temporarily exempt from fulfilling any legal timelines set out by Statute Law (or other lower forms of legislation) or Court Procedures, with said timelines being frozen throughout the holidays, should they request it as such.

§1.1. Said timelines shall immediately resume immediately upon the holidays’ ending.
§1.2. Should said timelines be complied within the holidays in lieu of the citizens’ request to be exempt from their fulfillment, they should still be considered as met with upon the conclusion of the holidays.
§1.3. This exemption does not extend to timelines or obligations set to public and/or private legal entities, only physical legal persons.

§2. Every worker shall have the right to take paid time off during the holidays, should they request it as such.

§2.1. Should they, by force majeure, be required to perform their jobs nonetheless, they must receive a compensation of ⅕ (one fifth) of their weekly salary, to be paid by the 31st December 2025, or the 6th January 2026, whichever is earliest at the time they executed their function.
§2.2. The above provision (§2.1) shall extend to employees of the State of SimDemocracy at the discretion of the President, taking into consideration how essential the work of the aforementioned employees would be throughout the holidays.

§3. Should any timeline or obligation aforementioned be set out by the Constitution and not by Statute or other legislation, the obligation to comply with such timeline or obligation cannot be exempted with the provisions of this Act.

Article 3: Implementation and Repeal

§1. This Act shall take effect on the 24th December, 2025, at 00:00 UTC, or upon the enactment of this Act, whichever is later.

§2. This Act shall be considered repealed as spent (as per the Infrastructure & Archives Renewal Act) on the 2nd January, 2026, at 00:00 UTC.
