Preamble
Whereas the SimDemocracy community and its associated servers occasionally encounter social, cultural, and symbolic phenomena that benefit from ceremonial, protective, or advisory attention;
Whereas a designated civic figure who conducts public, community outreach, and advisory duties may strengthen communal cohesion, moderation resilience, and cultural identity; Be it enacted by the Senate of SimDemocracy:
Article 1 — Appointment
§1. The President shall appoint a qualified person to hold the office of SimDemocracy Wizard. There are no religious requirements for this role.
§2. The Wizard may be removed either by a 2/3rds vote of the Senate or by the presidential decision.
§3. In the case that SimDem encounters paranormal phenomena it is up to the wizard to investigate and advise the SimDem government on the issue.
§4. For the purposes of this Act, the term “Wizard” shall be understood to include Wizards, Witches, Warlocks, or other magical practitioners, as determined by the nominee’s preference. No religious qualification is required for this office beyond the ability to perform symbolic blessings, curses, or similar ceremonial acts.
Article 2 — Duties
§1. The SimDemocracy Wizard shall, consistent with applicable laws, community rules, and the Discord Terms of Service, perform the following duties:
- §1.1. Provide ceremonial acts of a civic nature (e.g., blessings, symbolic ceremonies, community observances) intended to foster cohesion, protection, and community spirit.
- §1.2. In times of war, the president or general may call upon the powers of the wizard to curse the enemies of SimDem and cast protective magic around the community to protect from enemy curses or spells.
§2. The Wizard shall read the fortune of each new president term if they are amenable. They may also provide this service to other elected officials but they will be required to pay the wizard.
§3. The Wizard may take an apprentice to help the wizard with their duties, but they will not be paid.
Article 3 — Pay
§1. The Wizard shall, at minimum once weekly, provide evidence of ceremonial activity (such as photos, video, or testimony) to qualify for compensation.
§2. The Wizard’s pay will be determined by the Senate during the next budget.
