The Discord Channels and Roles Bill

Passed by the Senate on 12 July 2025, and signed by the President on 13 July 2025.

Preamble

Whereas I want a centralized bill for everything around purchasing Discord Channels and Roles
Whereas a senator should propose bills

Article 1: Definitions

§1. A purchased role is a discord role that is bought by a citizen or business.

§1.1. A cosmetic role is a discord role that is bought by a citizen.
§1.2. A business role is a discord role that is bought by a business.

§2. A purchased channel is a discord channel that is bought by a citizen or business.

§2.1. A member channel is a discord channel that is bought by a citizen, and may only be in the “Member Fun” category.
§2.2. A business channel is a discord channel that is bought by a business, and may only be in the “News” or “Business Park” category.

§3. “People affected by a (cosmetic/business) role deletion” shall refer to the person/persons who sent money to relevant departments to purchase a role, that was later deleted.


Article 2: Purchasing Discord Roles

§1. There are two types of purchased roles, that both shall require paying a 200t fee to the department managing them:

§1.1. Cosmetic roles managed by the Department of Expansion, that need at least 5 unique citizens request to hold the role at the time of its creatio for it to be created/approved, or
§1.2. Business roles managed by the Department of Treasury, and these roles shall need the business that purchased the role to be active for it to be created/approved.

§2. Any existing cosmetic role that drops below 5 active holders for more than 7 consecutive days shall be subject to review, and perhaps deletion by the Secretary of Expansion.

§2.1. People affected by a cosmetic role deletion shall receive a full refund of their cost to purchase a role from the Government Reserve tau account.
§2.2. The Secretary of Expansion, in cooperation with the President, may grant exceptions for event-related roles under special circumstances.

§3. Any changes to cosmetic roles must be approved by the Secretary of Expansion, or an employee of the Department of Expansion. §4. If any existing business role fails to pay a 25t fee for their role every 2 months or has 0 active holders for 2 weeks, it shall be subject to deletion by the Secretary of the Treasury.

$4.1. People affected by a business role deletion shall receive a full refund of their cost to purchase a role from the Government Reserve tau account.
§4.2. If the business who purchased a business role has their role deleted within 1 month, they may pay for a 150t discounted rate to purchase back their business role.

§5. Any changes to business roles will have a 50t fee, which shall be collected by the Department of the Treasury.

Article 3: Purchasing Discord Channels

§1. The process of purchasing discord channels is managed by: the Department of the Treasury for News and Business Park channels, and the Department of Expansion for Member Fun channels respectively.

§1.1. The channel orders of the “News” and “Business Park” categories shall be managed by Department of the Treasury, and the channel orders of the “Member Fun” category shall be managed by the Department of Expansion

§2. All requests to purchase a discord channels from either the Department of Expansion or the Department of the Treasury shall have the following details:

§2.1. the name of the channel requested;
§2.2. all people that should have “Manage Channel” permissions in the channel (can also be referred to as “Owners” or “Managers” of the channel);
§2.3. and, for business channels, which category (between the “News” and “Business Park” categories) the channel shall be in.

§3. Purchasing a discord channel shall cost 400t, directed to either the Department of Expansion for member channels, or the Department of the Treasury for business channels.

§3.1. Every 4 months after September 1, all purchased discord channels will have to pay a 100t maintenance fee.
§3.1.1. If a citizen/business fails to pay the maintenance fee within a reasonable amount of time (7 days, or more at the discretion of the Secretary of Treasury or Secretary of Expansion), the channel will be locked down, and it should be recommended to the Chief Archivist for archiving.

§4. Changing the channel type of a purchased channel shall cost 200t

§4.1. Only Channel Owners/Managers may request to change the channel type
§4.2. It shall be directed to either the Department of the Treasury or the Department of Expansion depending on where the channel is.

§5. Changing the category that a purchased discord channel will be in shall cost 200t

§5.1. Only Channel Owners/Managers may request to change the channel’s category
§5.2. It shall be directed to either the Department of the Treasury, the Department of Expansion, or both depending on where the channel is and where it wants to move to.
§5.2.1. If the fee is directed to both the Department of the Treasury and the Department of Expansion, both Departments shall receive half the fee.

§6. All requests to purchase member channels shall be directed to the Department of Expansion.
§7. All requests to purchase business channels shall be directed to the Department of the Treasury.

Article 4: Implementation

§1. The Discord Role Regulation Act shall be repealed
§2. Part 3, Article 1 and Part 3, Schedule 1 of the Revised Economy Foundation shall be repealed, and all articles shall be renumbered accordingly
