MC EO 005-01 Establishing the Minecraft Judicial Branch
WHEREAS Article VII of the Minecraft Charter and MC EO 002-01 have already created a Judge position.
WHEREAS Clear procedures are needed to help the Judge carry out fair trials.
WHEREAS Judicial independence and community participation are key to maintaining justice within the colony.
§1. This Executive Order defines the procedures and structure of the Minecraft judiciary as authorized under Article VII of the Charter.
§2. When trials are held, the following procedures shall be followed:
- §2.1 The Judge shall oversee the trial and present the case.
- §2.2. If the Judge deems it appropriate, the Minecraft Assembly and/or the Governor and Deputy Governor shall serve as the Court Jury.
- §2.2.1. The Assembly may question both parties, review evidence, and vote on a verdict.
- §2.2.2. A simple majority is required for a decision.
- §2.3. Trials shall be held publicly unless a private session is justified for security or sensitivity reasons.
§3. No sitting member of the Executive Branch or the Minecraft Assembly may serve as the Judicial Officer, in order to preserve the independence of the judiciary.
§4. Punishments issued may include:
- §4.1 In-game fines (materials, diamonds, currency)
- §4.2 Temporary or permanent bans
§5. MC EO 002 - 01 is repealed, as its goals are fully accomplished by this EO.
